Restaurant Reviews in Phoenix

Phoenix is one of Arizona's best cities and it certainly has some of the best food.  You will find anything here from a solid steakhouse to great Southwestern fusion or even New York-style Italian food.  You really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants below and this is just a simple sample.  There are plenty of other great kinds of food to try.  Check out Central Avenue if you just want to wander and menu browse until you find just what you want.

Fuego Bistro -

If you go to Fountain Court Plaza you can spend an evening at Fuego Bistro.  As the name suggests, it is a Southwestern fusion kind of restaurant.  The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and gives off good vibes.  Not only can you get amazing, innovative food but there is also an amazing wine list and bar!  You can't miss out on this centrally located dinner spot.

T. Cooks -

T. Cooks is one of the classiest places you could spend a night out in Phoenix.  Noted for both its high quality food and the Spanish Mediterranean ambience, it is perfect for a special night with a special someone.  You can get all kinds of unique dishes from rabbit to Lobster Carpaccio.

Aiello's -

Located in Phoenix's restaurant district (Central Avenue), this spot has been open for 5 years.  They relocated from Manhattan and have brought their trade with them.  They also brought their great attitudes.  If you are looking for some traditional Italian cuisine with amazing service, there is no better place for you.  They have great pastas as well as traditional entrees.

The Capital Grille -

This is an amazing, classy steak house.  They have a great atmosphere that fully matches the food.  We recommend the steak and seafood, to be enjoyed either indoors, or on the beautiful patio.  Along with their famous sirloin, you could get a delectable citrus glazed salmon.  They are not only known for their great entrees, but also the side dishes that accompany them.

Hospitals in Phoenix

The Phoenix area boasts some amazing care facilities.  First off, there is a branch of the highly esteemed Mayo Clinic.  While it is a bit smaller, there are also plenty of great options for larger hospitals that have been around for quite awhile and earned a good name.  Many of these hospitals have everything from cancer care to emergency rooms.  You can also check out some of the smaller clinics in the city.  We hope you don't use this post, but if you have to you'll be well cared for.

Phoenix Baptist Hospital -

This is one of the best teaching hospitals in the Phoenix area.  It is also part of one of the biggest hospital systems in the state, Abrazo Health Care.  Phoenix Baptist has been open since 1963.  They do a great job with women's health, radiology, heart care and robotic surgery.  They even have a 24hr Emergency Room.

St. Joseph's Hospital -

At St. Joseph's you get a non-profit hospital that works for all patients equally.  They belong to Catholic Healthcare West, a large healthcare system, so there are resources even outside of the hospital.  The Barrow Neurological Institute, a top-of-the-line research group.  They also have institutes for heart and lung as well.  There is also a Level I Trauma Center.  The Center for Women's Health also has some great maternity care.  This hospital has stood the test of time, opening in 1892.

Mayo Clinic -

Phoenix is truly lucky to have this hospital.  The world renowned Mayo Clinic has a branch here.  While not as big as the Rochester, Minnesota main campus, the Phoenix Mayo Clinic demands the same kinds of quality.  It is known as one of the best places to work, as well as one of the best places to be cared for.  It is also an extremely important research institution.  The nearly 5000 employees have earned the kind of reputation this institution has.

Heard Museum -

The Heard Museum of Native Cultures and Art is a must-see.  If you are in the Southwest you really should learn some about the native art and people.  There are some great artifacts and amazing art.  They have an amazing Hopi kachina collection, photographs, and memorabilia.  It is a Smithsonian Affiliate museum.

Desert Botanical Garden -

The 140 acre park is the home of 21,000 plants, many endangered.  They focus on various exhibits including Baja, Australia, and South American.  One of their specialties is the cacti collection.  It is a very different kind of botanical garden and is worth your time to check out.

Phoenix Zoo -

This nearly 50 year old zoo is the largest non-profit zoo in the country.  They have great walking trails as well as over 1000 animals to see.  The park is divided by theme, usually geographic.  They also have a sanctuary for endangered animals as part of their conservation project.  The Maytag family funds the zoo.

Apache Trail -

If you are up for a slightly different kind of adventure, you can take a drive on Apache Trail.  It is in the Superstition Mountains.  There are some beautiful landscape views, including lakes, cliffs, canyons, and much more.  The drive is amazing, but very difficult so be aware while a portion is paved, the most beautiful part is not, so to get the best views you have to be a confident driver.

Professional Sports in Phoenix

Phoenix is a great sports town with many successful teams.  Be sure to check who is playing, be it basketball, baseball, or football season, and take in a game.  There is always something to watch!

Phoenix Suns – US Airways Center

The Suns play in the NBA’s Western Conference.  They are the only non-California team in the Pacific Division.  This team, which calls the “Purple Palace”, has become one of the more successful teams in the league, and in fact – with their great in-season record, nine Conference Finals and two Finals appearances – are the winningest team to have never won the Championship.  Take a trip down and watch Vince Carter and former MVP Steve Nash!

Phoenix Mercury – US Airways Center

This WNBA team plays in the same arena as their NBA counterparts, the Sun.  Since their 1997 debut as one of the original WNBA teams, they have had some ups and downs but recently have been very successful.  They have won three Conference Titles, and in 2007 and 2009, took the Championship trophy.

Arizona Diamondbacks – Chase Field

The Arizona Diamondbacks are in the National League of MLB.  They won a World Series Championship in 2001, just four years after their inception – a record!  They just retired the number 20 of Luis Gonzalez who holds nearly all of the team’s records for hitting.  Go check out their rebuilt team in their recently changed uniforms and colors!  Many teams also hold their Spring Training in the area.

Arizona Cardinals – University of Phoenix Stadium

If football is your game, you’ll have to take a short trip to Glendale to catch the Arizona Cardinals.  Having been founded in 1898, they hold the record for oldest continuously playing football team in America, although they have played in three different cities – Chicago, St. Louis and Phoenix.  The have won two pre-merger Championships in Chicago, and have been to the Super Bowl once since coming to Arizona.  Check out the exciting Larry Fitzgerald!  The only player from the Arizona years to have his number retired was Pat Tillman who left the team to go to Afghanistan and was tragically killed.

Keep on checking back for more info on the Phoenix Area!
