Live Music Venues in Phoneix

If you are looking to escape the heat in Phoenix, spend some time at a show, or when it cools down in the evening head over to the Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion.  There are some great options.  Smaller bars are also available to catch a local band, some Mexican music, or just about anything else you want.

 Comerica Theatre -

The Comerica Theatre in Phoenix is a medium sized venue, at 5,000 seats.  Not only does it bring in great shows, but also boxing matches, comedians and other events.  They have great acts of every different kind, so it is a wonderful option if you are in town for awhile - you will find something you like.  Just to give you an idea in the span of two weeks they will have Bon Iver w/ Fleet Foxes, Ke$ha, and ZZ Top.

Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion -

The Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion is a great outdoor venue.  This popular amphitheater has a combination of seats and lawn.  In total it can hold about 20,000 people.  Sadly is is only open from April to October, but while it is open it draws amazing performers (the first was Billy Joel).  Coming up soon they have Lil Wayne and Santana!

US Airways Center -

Primarily the home of the Phoenix Suns, the US Airways Center also holds some great concerts.  They have had some of the concert traffic that used to come here moved to Jobbing.com Arena (in Glendale) so you may want to look there too.  US Airways Center still has great music, however, including SADE and John Legend as well as Foo Fighters.

Phoenix Attractions

Phoneix has some great things to see.  Check out one of the local museums or take in some natural beauty.  Whether in the zoo or the desert landscape there is also some great wildlife to see.  Nearby there is a lot of Native American culture and even ruins to learn about.

Heard Museum -

The Heard Museum of Native Cultures and Art is a must-see.  If you are in the Southwest you really should learn some about the native art and people.  There are some great artifacts and amazing art.  They have an amazing Hopi kachina collection, photographs, and memorabilia.  It is a Smithsonian Affiliate museum.

Desert Botanical Garden -

The 140 acre park is the home of 21,000 plants, many endangered.  They focus on various exhibits including Baja, Australia, and South American.  One of their specialties is the cacti collection.  It is a very different kind of botanical garden and is worth your time to check out.

Phoenix Zoo -

This nearly 50 year old zoo is the largest non-profit zoo in the country.  They have great walking trails as well as over 1000 animals to see.  The park is divided by theme, usually geographic.  They also have a sanctuary for endangered animals as part of their conservation project.  The Maytag family funds the zoo.

Apache Trail -

If you are up for a slightly different kind of adventure, you can take a drive on Apache Trail.  It is in the Superstition Mountains.  There are some beautiful landscape views, including lakes, cliffs, canyons, and much more.  The drive is amazing, but very difficult so be aware while a portion is paved, the most beautiful part is not, so to get the best views you have to be a confident driver.
