If you are a history buff there is a pretty awesome museum open 7 days a week here in Phoenix for you! Head on out to the Heard Museum. It is the old home of Dwight and Maie Heard who settled here back in pioneer days. They amassed a collection of Southwestern art and build a beautiful Spanish adobe house in which to store it. There is some amazing Native American work on display. You can view an actual Navajo hogan, a great example of kachinas, rugs, silver and turquoise jewelry, and more. The focus here is on local Native artists and traditions, and they even host a Hoop Dance and art fairs.
