The Phoenix Zoo has a new member of the family! There is a Bornean orangutan, Bess who was pregnant, and just had a baby. It was her second with her mate. It was very quick from when she first showed signs of labor to having the baby boy. Both the mother and child are doing well and seem to be in good health. The zoo is careful to allow a natural relationship to form, and for now the two are not on exhibit, but will be shortly. This is particularly great news because this is an endangered species.
