Season Over For Suns Fans In Corporate Housing Arizona
Well, basketball fans in corporate housing Arizona have seen the season come to an end here. Unfortunately, the Suns did not make the playoffs. Coach Jeff Hornacek did a good job at turning around a pretty rough season, and got the players motivated to fight to the end. They did a very respectful job, and only missed out by 6 points in a 97-91 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. It is still a tough pill to swallow, but the way they came together at the end of the season gives us hope for a better year next year.

Sad News For Those In Corporate Housing Arizona - Aviii Cancels Show

Tour Tovrea Castle During Your Stay In Your Arizona Furnished Apartment
Tovrea Castle is one of the strangest attractions for you to see while you are here in an Arizona furnished apartment. This landmark has a long history stretching back to right around 1930. This bizarre looking building was originally going to be part of a resort inside the city. After those plans fell apart it became a private home of some of the most important families in the area. A few years ago the city of Phoenix bought the property and turned it into a tourist attraction. It is now a park you can visit and even get tours of portions of the Castle!

Keep Dogs On a Leash In Your Arizona Furnished Apartment
Facebook has lit up recently with the story of a pit bull that mauled a local 4-year-old boy. In the coming weeks, the fate of the dog will be determined. The boy survived the attack, but is left with a long process of surgery after surgery. There is a high likelihood that the Mickey, the dog, will be put down, but there is an active online petition to keep that from happening. There is now a dispute between those on the side of euthanizing the dog, including the family of the person taking care of the little boy, and those who think those in charge of the boy and the dog are accountable, not the dog. If you brought your dog with you to stay in an Arizona furnished apartment, be sure to keep it on a leash and that it is well trained and safe to be in public.

Driver Runs Red and Hits Three
There is a reminder for all of us of the importance of following the laws. We like to try to keep posts here happy, but we were shocked by the news about an accident last night. A driver, apparently not drunk, consciously chose to run a red light. He drove onto the sidewalk and hit three teenagers. Luckily they seem to be ok. But in many cases people die in situations like this. Drive sober AND safe. It is too easy to seriously hurt yourself and others if you aren't paying attention behind the wheel.

Pueblo Grande Museum
One cool place for you to check out if you are around Phoenix is the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park. It is a unique site just between Tempe and Phoenix. If you stop by you'll go through the relatively small museum to learn about what exactly is going on. Then you'll get to take a look at the excavations and archaeological projects going on. The site is an old Hohokam village and features an astronomy chamber, a 1000-mile long canal system that was extremely well-built, and even the court for an ancient ball game. We can learn all sorts of stuff about the native population of Arizona from this site, so it is worth while to support it and educate yourself at the same time!

Lottery Winners
A local hit it big in the lottery. The $4.8 million jackpot ticket was bought in Scottsdale, so someone has it and should cash in. There is also a Fantasy 5 winning ticket out there that is worth over $500,000. It is time to check your numbers and see if they match! What would you do with that money?

Archeology Reveals Phoenix Past!
An interesting recent story involves an excavation of an old cemetery. After sitting for 7 decades, the archeological site was unearthed in a construction project. Now they have found all sorts of great pieces of Phoenix history! Not only were there graves of some of the city's earliest pioneers, but also even earlier artifacts from the area's native American past. It is worth looking into if you are into local history.

New owner at the Coyotes?
The Phoenix Coyotes are close to having a new owner. Renaissance Sports & Entertainment, led by Daryl Jones are just a few formalities from taking over at Jobing.com Arena. This is big news, as in 2009 Jerry Moyes, the old owner, led the team into a state of bankruptcy, and since then the league itself has run the team.

Immigration Reform in Congress
On the national politics stage there are serious debates raging that mean a lot to us locally in Arizona. Congress is currently discussing immigration reform, and in a way that seems more serious than previously. Arizona has a huge, important immigrant community and so however this plays out it will effect our state. We hope that reform can hope lower tensions and improve lives.

Meteorite Hits Earth
A huge meteor streaked through the atmosphere today and struck the Earth in Russia. Many people were injured and about 3,000 buildings are estimated damaged. The crater left is about 26-feet-wide. The injury toll is very high for a meteorite explosion. Please send your best to those people injured.

Happy Thanksgiving from Zazu Pannee
All of us here at Zazu Pannee just want to say Happy Thanksgiving! This is one of our absolute favorite holidays with the great spirit and, of course, the amazing food! We have a Thanksgiving fun fact for you this week. Ever since the beginning of our country we have celebrated this holiday, but at different regularity. The first Thanksgiving Day Proclamation, though, was made by our very first president, George Washington, in 1789. He declared another day in 1795. Later on it became an annual event.

Phoenix Celebrities - Stevie Nicks
This week on our profile of local celebrities, we want to talk about Stephanie Lynn Nicks - better known as Stevie Nicks! Nicks became one of the most popular singers of the 70s as part of Buckingham Nicks and then Fleetwood Mac. During this time she helped produce many hits that are now standards, especially with the album Rumors which is one of the top-ten selling album of all time! Following the breakup of Fleetwood Mac and her breakup with Lindsay Buckingham, she started a wonderful solo career that has continued up until today!
It all started, though, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Nicks was born here in Phoenix, and got her musical start from her grandfather who was a country singer. Her parents sheltered her and she moved around a lot as her father's job required a lot of relocation, but she is a product of the West, living in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah and California in her childhood. Thanks Stevie, for all of the great music!

Phoenix on the Big Screen - Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
Arizona has some great scenery, which has led many movies to be set and or shot here. This week in our discussion of Phoenix in film, we wanted to talk about Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. In 1989 this Stephen Herek directed movie was released, staring Keanu Reeves and George Carlin, among others. It is a silly science fiction comedy. In this film two not-so-bright high schoolers, Bill and Ted have to pass history class, and so their future selves send Rufus on a mission to help them and save future society. Rufus helps them by taking them on a crazy trip using the time machine to help them "live" the history they must learn. The film was popular when it came out and is now a cult classic. Though the town Bill and Ted live in is supposed to be in California, the film was primarily shot in Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Fire Danger in Arizona
This summer has not been a good one for fires. The lack of rain has made the wildfire risk very high, and the danger when they do occur even worse. We all saw the terrible devastation in Colorado, and similar kinds of fires, although let dangerously located in Utah. We are going through a period of some bad burns ourselves now. Lightning started various fires this past week, the worst in the northern part of the state. It has now consumed over 1,400 acres. The East Fire, as it is names, isn't the only one over 1,000 acres currently, and there are many smaller. Do what you can to conserve water and to keep fire danger as low as you can in your area.

Phoenix Swimming Pools
Living in Phoenix in the summer can be a huge challenge. It gets hot here. REALLY hot. So we can't imagine an Arizona summer without the amazing pools and aquatic resources we have at our fingertips. You really can't survive this time of year without stopping by!
Rhodes Aquatics Complex -
This is a full service kind of place. They have the standards - pool, swim lessons, concessions, etc. But they also offer much more. You can not only play water-polo or learn to synchronized swim, but can also take advantage of their "beach", the FlowRider attraction or dive. They also have great stuff for little ones to enjoy, and it is cheap!
Foothills Rec and Aquatic Center -
This is a large recreation complex, but they have a very well developed aquatic center. They offer lessons, have a few huge slides, as well as plenty of space to just lay back and relax. They have a water playground for the kids and a float river. You can also dive, do lap swim, or take other fitness classes!
Pecos Pool -
Much like the other pools discussed, if you are in for lap swim and the standards, they are available (this pool hosts competitions regularly), but there are many other amenities as well. There is a beach entry, diving and some awesome slides. There is a little something for all ages, and this is another cheap place to beat the heat…even better!

Higher Education in Phoenix
Phoenix is a city with a lot to offer, including educational opportunities. To give you an idea of some of what is there we have told you a little about some below. There are chances to benefit from these schools either by checking out a game or taking in a student show!
Arizona State University -
Arizona State University is one of Arizona's best schools. It is in Tempe, in the Phoenix Metro Area. It was founded in 1885, and has grown from a normal school to a full fledged public university. They have four campuses now and a wide variety of programs. ASU also has D-I sports and competes in the Pacific-12 Conference.
Arizona Christian University -
Arizona Christian University opened in 1960, and is a non-profit religious school. It is a nondenominational seminary. They are slowly expanding, but the vast majority of their degrees are religious in nature, and students are required to be active members of a church.
American Indian College -
There is also the American Indian College, which is another Christian school. It was established in 1857, around the same time as American Indian College. They are open to all, but put an emphasis on Native American students, and have 25 tribes represented.
It is our pleasure to provide this information. If you are traveling to the Phoenix area for an extended stay or are in need of corporate housing please consider Zazu Pannee.

Food Trucks in Phoenix
We talked about some of the nice restaurant options in Phoenix, but we are also up on the new food truck trend. You can get all kinds of tasty stuff on the go! Many of these trucks will also cater events.
Torched Goodness -
For a unique food truck experience catch Torched Goodness. They do to order Crème Brûlée. They have the standard, sure, but they also have over 30 other flavors, and that number keeps going up! Chef Eric, the owner/chef uses local ingredients to develop his creations like PB&J or lavender!
Jamburritos -
For a little taste of New Orleans in Phoenix head to Jamburritos. They specialize in taking cajun food and stuffing it in a tortilla, as well as other fusion creations. They work hard to keep things tasty but healthy!

Breaking News in Phoenix
There has been some big news in Arizona lately, especially with the national attention related to the Republican Primary. There is plenty to read about so keep looking!
Republican Primary -
To start with some big news, last night Mitt Romney won the Arizona Republican Primary with about 50% of the vote. He remains the front runner and took Michigan yesterday as well. He had the backing of Senator and former presidential candidate John McCain, which couldn't have hurt here!
Sports -
In the sports world we are going through some ups and downs. In the hockey world, the Coyotes just completed a big upset by beating the Vancouver Canucks 2-1 in a shootout. Meanwhile, however, the Suns have been struggling in the NBA. We are hoping they will get back on their feet here soon.
Police -
Phoenix has been interviewing for a new police chief to take the reigns. They are getting close to a decision and have narrowed it down to four candidates, including a few local boys and the former police chief of San Jose, CA.
Courts -
A recent report claimed that compared to similar sized cities, the Phoenix court system is very good. The main thing they still need to work on is technology to make processes and service better, although there is room for improvement in other areas as well.

Restaurant Reviews in Phoenix
Phoenix is one of Arizona's best cities and it certainly has some of the best food. You will find anything here from a solid steakhouse to great Southwestern fusion or even New York-style Italian food. You really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants below and this is just a simple sample. There are plenty of other great kinds of food to try. Check out Central Avenue if you just want to wander and menu browse until you find just what you want.
Fuego Bistro -
If you go to Fountain Court Plaza you can spend an evening at Fuego Bistro. As the name suggests, it is a Southwestern fusion kind of restaurant. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and gives off good vibes. Not only can you get amazing, innovative food but there is also an amazing wine list and bar! You can't miss out on this centrally located dinner spot.
T. Cooks -
T. Cooks is one of the classiest places you could spend a night out in Phoenix. Noted for both its high quality food and the Spanish Mediterranean ambience, it is perfect for a special night with a special someone. You can get all kinds of unique dishes from rabbit to Lobster Carpaccio.
Aiello's -
Located in Phoenix's restaurant district (Central Avenue), this spot has been open for 5 years. They relocated from Manhattan and have brought their trade with them. They also brought their great attitudes. If you are looking for some traditional Italian cuisine with amazing service, there is no better place for you. They have great pastas as well as traditional entrees.
The Capital Grille -
This is an amazing, classy steak house. They have a great atmosphere that fully matches the food. We recommend the steak and seafood, to be enjoyed either indoors, or on the beautiful patio. Along with their famous sirloin, you could get a delectable citrus glazed salmon. They are not only known for their great entrees, but also the side dishes that accompany them.

Hospitals in Phoenix
The Phoenix area boasts some amazing care facilities. First off, there is a branch of the highly esteemed Mayo Clinic. While it is a bit smaller, there are also plenty of great options for larger hospitals that have been around for quite awhile and earned a good name. Many of these hospitals have everything from cancer care to emergency rooms. You can also check out some of the smaller clinics in the city. We hope you don't use this post, but if you have to you'll be well cared for.
Phoenix Baptist Hospital -
This is one of the best teaching hospitals in the Phoenix area. It is also part of one of the biggest hospital systems in the state, Abrazo Health Care. Phoenix Baptist has been open since 1963. They do a great job with women's health, radiology, heart care and robotic surgery. They even have a 24hr Emergency Room.
St. Joseph's Hospital -
At St. Joseph's you get a non-profit hospital that works for all patients equally. They belong to Catholic Healthcare West, a large healthcare system, so there are resources even outside of the hospital. The Barrow Neurological Institute, a top-of-the-line research group. They also have institutes for heart and lung as well. There is also a Level I Trauma Center. The Center for Women's Health also has some great maternity care. This hospital has stood the test of time, opening in 1892.
Mayo Clinic -
Phoenix is truly lucky to have this hospital. The world renowned Mayo Clinic has a branch here. While not as big as the Rochester, Minnesota main campus, the Phoenix Mayo Clinic demands the same kinds of quality. It is known as one of the best places to work, as well as one of the best places to be cared for. It is also an extremely important research institution. The nearly 5000 employees have earned the kind of reputation this institution has.

If you are looking to escape the heat in Phoenix, spend some time at a show, or when it cools down in the evening head over to the Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion. There are some great options. Just to give you an idea in the span of two weeks they will have Bon Iver w/ Fleet Foxes, Ke$ha, and ZZ Top.
Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion -
The Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion is a great outdoor venue. This popular amphitheater has a combination of seats and lawn. In total it can hold about 20,000 people. Sadly is is only open from April to October, but while it is open it draws amazing performers (the first was Billy Joel). Coming up soon they have Lil Wayne and Santana!
US Airways Center -
Primarily the home of the Phoenix Suns, the US Airways Center also holds some great concerts. They have had some of the concert traffic that used to come here moved to Jobbing.com Arena (in Glendale) so you may want to look there too. US Airways Center still has great music, however, including SADE and John Legend as well as Foo Fighters.

Professional Sports in Phoenix
Phoenix is a great sports town with many successful teams. Be sure to check who is playing, be it basketball, baseball, or football season, and take in a game. There is always something to watch!
Phoenix Suns – US Airways Center
The Suns play in the NBA’s Western Conference. They are the only non-California team in the Pacific Division. This team, which calls the “Purple Palace”, has become one of the more successful teams in the league, and in fact – with their great in-season record, nine Conference Finals and two Finals appearances – are the winningest team to have never won the Championship. Take a trip down and watch Vince Carter and former MVP Steve Nash!
Phoenix Mercury – US Airways Center
This WNBA team plays in the same arena as their NBA counterparts, the Sun. Since their 1997 debut as one of the original WNBA teams, they have had some ups and downs but recently have been very successful. They have won three Conference Titles, and in 2007 and 2009, took the Championship trophy.
Arizona Diamondbacks – Chase Field
The Arizona Diamondbacks are in the National League of MLB. They won a World Series Championship in 2001, just four years after their inception – a record! They just retired the number 20 of Luis Gonzalez who holds nearly all of the team’s records for hitting. Go check out their rebuilt team in their recently changed uniforms and colors! Many teams also hold their Spring Training in the area.
Arizona Cardinals – University of Phoenix Stadium
If football is your game, you’ll have to take a short trip to Glendale to catch the Arizona Cardinals. Having been founded in 1898, they hold the record for oldest continuously playing football team in America, although they have played in three different cities – Chicago, St. Louis and Phoenix. The have won two pre-merger Championships in Chicago, and have been to the Super Bowl once since coming to Arizona. Check out the exciting Larry Fitzgerald! The only player from the Arizona years to have his number retired was Pat Tillman who left the team to go to Afghanistan and was tragically killed.
